PLAYSTATION 3- Major League Baseball- Commercial Digital Domain- Frozen Moment Compositing

After 2 successful projects, Mark Devlin once again was asked to return to Digital Domain's commercial division as a heavy hitter.

The visual effects supervisor was too busy with several other projects and asked Mark to just take over this project. Once again Mark was asked to lead a team of 3D, roto and compositing artists to do mainly crowd replacement and light flash adds to most of the shots.

In addition, Mark was asked to handle the one "hard shot" A frozen moment shot involving 270 still cameras which need to be removed from the shot. To make life even more difficult, the first 120 cameras had a different lens on them, causing a major jump in the raw footage. In addition, several of the frames were lost causing motion problems which needed to be smoothed.

Additional effects added to this shot included, color correction to match the other scenes in the spot, motion blur was added, crowd was added to an empty stadium, baseball was replaced and repositioned, final frames where repositioned to match game footage, depth of field was added to the background and the footage was retimed to speed up the end.
